To My minds eye I have a 1000mw dual antenna wifi adapter that I purchased on ebay from etekcity that I modified as follows I kept one antenna as normal the other I replaced with a TRENDnet Low Loss Reverse SMA Female to N-Type Male Weatherproof Connector Cable and attached a n-type connector with a 2 3/4' piece of 14 gauge wire soldered to it (roughly 5/8 wave antenna for 2.4 ghz) sorry no photo.

My wifi signal did not improve according to add gadgets network meter, but my internet speed is awesome.(go figure) I'm not joking. Experiment a little- I have. I'm very happy with the results.
