. 1 Answer SOURCE: Dell (Altec Lansing) A425 Subwoofer Pinouts This is a standard female DB-9 serial port. Here are the pinouts. Pin 1 = Left Speaker Out + Pin 2 = Left Speaker Out - (Common Ground) Pin 3 = Left Line In + Pin 4 = Right Line In + Pin 5 = Left/Right line In - (Common Ground) Pin 6 = Right Speaker Out + Pin 7 = Right Speaker Out - (Common Ground) Pin 8 = Power A Pin 9 = Power B Jumper (short) Power A to B to turn on. If you want a volume control you need to put one on the inputs.
Apr 21, 2015 My CREATIVE 2.1(i dont know the model name exactly i think Creative 2.1-SB 250) speaker is suddenly stopped working. Only worth $20 new.
You will buy buy a stereo volume control or potentiometer. Here is some info on how to do this.

Two ways to do this and all require a soldering iron. Either split or open the cover on the 9 pin male adapter and expose the wires going to each pin. Identify the colors and pin numbers and draw a diagram on paper to keep for reattaching the wires later on. Cut 1/4 of the insulation back from the end of each wire and tin the wires. In short, hold the solder to the wire ends and heat with the iron so a flow of solder runs along the bare wire. Make certain to put a connector cover onto the wires prior to soldering each wire in place on the pin end. Simply set the correct colored wire end in the proper pin number, hold the iron to the pin back end and allow the wire to affix itself.
Do this with all wires. If you do not have 9 wires, that is not unusual, just do the procedure with what wires are available.
If you cannot get the outer jacket off of the current 9 pin connecter, then you will need a Volt/Amp meter. Here you simply cut the wire approximately 1/2 to 2/4 Inch back from the cable 9 pin adapter, and locate the pin that corresponds to the colored wire. Using the RESISTANCE part of a meter, when you touch the two probes together the needle moves on the scale.

Touch one end to a pin and try each colored wire end until you see the movement on the scale. Now you know what color corresponds with each pin. Solder each colored wire as mentioned above.
Dec 15, 2013. I have a logitech z3 subwoofer with a mini-DIN-9 connector socket. It also has a volume control and 110V power cord. As best as i could trace the circuit, and using the TDA7377 stereo bridge amplifier chip datasheet, the pinout for the mini-DIN is as follows (untested): 1: L in (to vol.) 2: R in (to vol.) 3: Power (12V from transformer) 4: Standby (5V to play, 0.05mA; 0V to standby) 5: L out 6: R out 7: Ground 8: Ground 9: Ground Connecting 3 to 4 with a large resistance (20K ohms) should enable speaker.
Pins 1 and 2 might be swapped; pins 5 and 8 might be swapped. Mini-DIN socket pin holes are numbered right to left, bottom row to top row: 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Sep 03, 2012. In my case the left speaker had no sound. Finally traced the problem to a broken wire inside the control pod plug, which I destroyed by dissecting it. For those who have the experience, or know someone who does, purchase a new plug, which a Mini DIN 8 pin (RS-422 standard).

It should be available at any good electronic parts store. Solder new plug on to cable, which requires a fine electronic soldering iron and a fair bit of skill (the wires are very fine). Look at the plug (from the rear); you will see it comprises a top row of 3 pins equaly spaced; a middle row of 3 pins (there is room for 4 pins but one pin is missing just left of centre); a bottom row of 2 pins. I numbered these as follows: 8 o 7 o 6 o 5 o 4 o 3 o 2 o 1 o The wire from the controller comprises 8 coloured cores and a bare core. The wiring of the eight cores are as follows: DIN CORE PCB pin 8 - brown 8 pin 7 - red 7 pin 6 - orange 6 pin 5 - yellow 5 pin 4 - green 4 pin 3 - blue 3 pin 2 - white 2 pin 1 - black 9 body clamp - bare wire - G In case your coloured cores vary from mine I have also listed the pin each one goes to on the printed circuit board plug, which will let you identify the colours.
