So recently I bought an Hori Real Arcade Pro V3 SA KAI stick for playing SFIV AE on my PC. When I plug it in it my PC recognizes the device and the XBOX switch burns green for 1 second. Then windows 7 starts installing a driver called 'RAP.NX'.
So recently I bought an Hori Real Arcade Pro V3 SA KAI stick for playing SFIV AE on my PC. When I plug it in it my PC recognizes the device and the XBOX switch burns.
After a while i get a problem that windows can't find the device driver. I've tried everthing (updating drivers, installing latest version of XBCD, Xpadder.). None of them work because windows just doesn't recognize the stick.
Googling doens't work either because there almost no topic about this. Even when I google 'RAP.NX' I get zero results. Can somebody help cause I think the only option is bringing the stick back to the retailer and hope that I get my money back. I know I am necroing, but this problem gave me so much trouble, when i have found solution so simple that i am feeling stupid i did not figured it out sooner. So to anyone with same or similar problem stumbling on this post: 1. In device manager locate RAP.NX (it will have exclamation mark on its icon) 2. Right click and select update driver software 3.
In update driver dialog select 'Browse my computer for driver software' 4. Select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer' 5. Choose Microsoft controller class 6.
Choose xbox 360 controller 2009 Windows will be kicking and screaming telling it is not compatible and might cause problems, tell it to continue. In rare case windows might not have 360 controller driver pack, I made windows update to get those drivers just by plugging in standard 360 controller. Probably Microsoft is keeping those drivers somewhere as normal download, but i could not be arsed to look for them. Tested it for HRAP V3 and VX on Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8.1. This solution should work for most controllers for xbox360 (name of the unknown device will change). 'Most' is because when i was looking for solution i have found information on issues with some older MadCatz sticks caused by motherboard chipset incompatibility, I could not test this. You can choose which. I also use it so my Dualshock 4 controller is seen as a 360 controller by windows, that way it works with games which only support a 360 controller.
Yupp, works wonders, especially since Windows PC does not like Playstation controller types. Or might not fully support off-brand controllers in general.
