Program Install And Uninstall Troubleshooter Product Code
I have the utility running right now. I saw a program I wanted to uninstall and when I tried finding it in add/remove program it wasn't there, so I used the troubleshooter. It turned out the icon was an undeleted shortcut so I deleted it. However I did notice that the uninstaller had some peculiar things on there. First off, It lists AVG 2012 5 times.
Is there any reason why that is, as the add/remove program only shows one AVG 2012 on it. Second, There are two entries that are listed as 'name not available'. How do I uncover which programs are associated with them? I have a hunch on one of them but not the other. I do notice an option up on top called not listed, and I assume that is for if the troubleshooter doesn't know the name of the program. I don't need to uninstall anything at the moment but those entries seem odd.

The “name not available” is another great question. This can occur if the MSI package was not authored with this information which is very rare, or more likely that state of the installation is not complete.

Hello, I attemped to install a DVD bur program (Intervideo) which I used on Windows XP and found it would not work on Windows 7. It messed up the software for the 2 DVD drives I have to the extent they wold not work (error 19 on Device Manager properties). I have managed to get them working by a little registry editing and re-installation of the driver software after removing the corrupt ones, so all OK there. However, I am unable to remove the Intervideo software using 'Uninstall or change a program'. When selected, I get the message:- 'Do you want to completely remove the selected product and all of its components?' I select 'OK' and get the message:- 'You did not select any product to be removed. Uninstallation will not continue.'
The program still appears in in the Start Menu, the Taskbar, and in the 'Uninstall or change a program' list, as well as in the C: and F: drive (Where I install programs). I did a search using find in regedit and found many references to it.
I am somewhat nervious about editing the Registry to a large extent - don't even know where to start (this was my first edit ever of the Registry using a method I found during a Google search), so am looking for an easy method to completely uninstall the program. I have seen many programs that claim to completely uninstall programs, such as ' Perfect Uninstaller', but don't want to make the problem worse. Any suggestions for a method to get rid of this program? Has anyone ever used one of the unistaller programs? Regards, Nick. Used Microsft Fix It (Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter) to attempt to fix problem.
Selected 'Detect problem and let me select fix to apply' then 'Uninstalling'. The program 'InerVideo Launcher' that I can not remove with the 'Unistall or change a program' from Control Panel was not listed, so I selected 'Not Listed'. I was then asked to 'Enter the Product Code' which I assume is referring to Microsoft programs - I do not have a code for InterVideo program.
If I delete the following files and/or folders:- C: Program Files (x86) InterVideo, F: Program Files (x86) InterVideo, (where I install programs to) the WinCinema Manager file in C: ProgramData Microsoft Windows StartMenu Programs StartUp and, the InterVideo Launcher folder from C: ProgramData Microsoft Windows StartMenu Programs will the program remain listed in the Control Panel 'Unistall or Change a program' window? If so, how can I get rid of it?
By using msconfig I have stoped the program attempting to run at startup. A search for 'InterVideo' using regedit finds loads of entries, the vast majority of which do not seem to have anything to do with it.
